Iowa Nepalese Association started Lego Robotics programming class to promote Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) education to kids from Nepalese Community on January 2016. Later during same year we registered our own First Lego League (FLL) team “Himalayan Hackers”.
During 2016 season, as a rookie team, Himalayan Hackers advanced to State Championship and won “Judges Awards” in state championship.
During 2017 season, our team Himalayan Hackers won 1st place in Regional Championship which was held in Ottumwa, Iowa and again advanced to Iowa State Championship. Our team won 2nd Place Overall Core Values Award in State Championship. We also registered Junior First Lego League (Jr. FLL) team Himalayan Hackers Jr during this season.
“Himalayan Hackers” won 1st Place Champion’s Award in 2018 Iowa State FLL Championship on Saturday, January 19, 2019 which was held at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. The team advanced to FIRST Championship (https://www.firstchampionship.org/), which will be held in Detroit on April 24 -27.
Our Jr FLL team Himalayan Hackers Jr. was recognized for “Master Programmer Award” during Iowa State Championship this year, 2018 .
Due to lots of interests in community, we registered one more Jr. FLL team with FIRST. Our new Jr. FLL team Himalayan Hackers Freshman was awarded “Lil Einstein Award”.
